What Jobright is
Jobright is a job search platform with its own feed, aggregated from company career sites and the major job platforms and screened for fake listings. It matches that feed to your resume, your target role and your preferences, and gives each job a Match Score, which its assistant, Orion, explains: the relevant experience, the seniority, the skills and the gaps.
From there it tailors a resume to the job, writes a cover letter, fills in the application on the major applicant tracking systems from its extension, and finds alumni and hiring managers at the company to ask for a referral. Its AI agent submits applications on your behalf.
What Job Puffin does that Jobright doesn't
Job Puffin works on the search you already run. The Chrome extension sends every posting on a LinkedIn results page in one click, and each comes back scored out of 100 on seven criteria, with a sentence on each and a word on whether to apply. Nothing is picked for you from a feed: you choose the search, and the inbox puts its results in order.
Your musts are kept apart from the score. Jobright's preferences shape which jobs it shows; Job Puffin checks each posting's own words against your dealbreakers and flags a job that breaks one with the quote, sorted below the rest, so a good fit on paper that is on-site when you need remote cannot sit in the middle of the list.
And it never applies. The jobs you pursue go into a pipeline with notes, Job Puffin drafts a first message to the people named on the posting, and every application is one you decided to make and sent yourself. If you would rather send fewer, better applications than hundreds a day, that is the point.
What it costs
Jobright's site says all of its features are free, with daily limits on the costly ones such as resume tailoring, and a paid plan for unlimited use; it publishes no price page, and its blog posts have put the paid plan at $29.99 and $30 a month. Job Puffin Plus is $15 a month, or $12 a month billed quarterly, for 300 assessments a month; Pro, with unlimited assessments, is $24.
Job Puffin's free plan is 50 assessments with every feature and no card: enough for a real search, not for every search. Jobright's free plan is limited by the day and Job Puffin's by the count; on the paid plans Job Puffin costs half as much.
When Jobright still makes sense
- You want one place that finds the jobs, tailors the resume and fills in the forms.
- You are applying in volume and want an agent to do the applying.
- You want referrals: alumni and hiring managers found for you at each company.
Which to choose
If you want the search run for you end to end, from a feed to a submitted application, Jobright is built for that. If you search on LinkedIn, want to know which of its results are worth your time, and want to make every application yourself, Job Puffin is built for exactly that, and the first fifty jobs are free, so you can see on your own search whether the ratings hold up.
Questions
- Is Job Puffin a Jobright alternative?
- Yes, if you search on LinkedIn and want to choose your own applications. Both score a job's fit against your CV and explain the score. Jobright does it over its own feed of jobs and goes on to tailor a resume and apply; Job Puffin does it over the LinkedIn search you ran, keeps your dealbreakers apart from the score, and leaves the applying to you.
- Is Job Puffin cheaper than Jobright?
- Not on the free plan. Jobright's site says every feature is free with daily limits on some, and a paid plan lifts the limits; its own blog posts have put that at $29.99 and $30 a month, and it publishes no price page. Job Puffin's free plan is 50 assessments; its paid plans start at $15 a month, or $12 a month by the quarter.
- Does Jobright rank LinkedIn jobs?
- Not the search you ran. Jobright ranks its own feed, which it says comes from company career sites and the major job platforms, against your resume. Job Puffin takes the results page of a LinkedIn search and puts every posting on it in order.
