Terms of service

The agreement between you and us when you use Job Puffin. Last updated 25 October 2026.

Who we are

Job Puffin is provided by Benns Software Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (no. 15751857). "We" and "us" in these terms mean Benns Software Ltd; "you" means the person using Job Puffin. Questions about these terms go to [email protected].

By creating an account and ticking the box to accept these terms, you agree to them. How we handle your personal data is in the privacy policy.

The service

Job Puffin is a web app and a Chrome extension. The extension sends job postings you choose from LinkedIn to your account; the app rates each against your profile with an AI model, lists them by that rating and keeps the ones you pursue in a pipeline, with drafted introductions to the people named on them.

Job Puffin is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by LinkedIn. You are responsible for using LinkedIn in line with its own User Agreement. The extension reads only the pages you have open, and only when you press Send.

Ratings and drafts are a guide

Ratings, notes, recommendations, suggested searches, profiles written from a CV and drafted messages are produced by an AI model. They can be wrong, incomplete or out of date, and they are not career, legal or financial advice. Check them before you rely on them, and read a posting yourself before you apply. We do not apply for jobs or send messages for you, and we cannot promise any outcome from your search.

Your account

You must be at least 18 to use Job Puffin. An account is for one person; keep access to your email address secure, since a link sent to it is how you sign in. Tell us at [email protected] if you think someone else has used your account.

Using it fairly

You agree not to:

  • use Job Puffin for anything unlawful, or to harass or spam anyone;
  • upload anything you have no right to share, or anything harmful or malicious;
  • try to get around the limits of your plan, share an account, or resell the service;
  • probe, overload or interfere with the service, or reverse-engineer it beyond what the law allows;
  • use automated means to access the service other than the extension itself.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. Where we reasonably can, we will tell you first and give you the chance to put it right.

Your content

What you put in (your profile, CV, searches, notes and the postings you send) stays yours. You give us permission to store and process it, and to send it to the companies listed in the privacy policy, only as needed to provide the service to you. You are responsible for having the right to share it.

The app, the extension, their design and their code are ours, and these terms do not give you any rights in them beyond using the service.

Plans and payment

The free plan costs nothing and includes a fixed number of assessments. The paid plans (Plus and Pro) are subscriptions billed monthly or every three months, in advance, at the price shown on the pricing page when you subscribe. Prices include any sales tax we are required to charge. Payments are handled by Stripe; we never see your card number.

A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period until you cancel it. You can cancel at any time from the billing page; it then runs to the end of the period you have paid for and does not renew. If you switch between paid plans, the difference for the rest of the period is charged or credited straight away.

A plan described as unlimited is subject to fair use of 3,000 assessments a billing month. We may change our prices; a change applies from your next renewal, and we will tell you before it does.

Cancelling and refunds

If you live in the UK or the European Union, you have the right to cancel a new subscription within 14 days of buying it. By subscribing, you ask us to start the service straight away; if you cancel within those 14 days, we refund what you paid less a proportionate amount for the service you had before you cancelled. To cancel this way, write to [email protected].

Apart from that, and except where the law requires otherwise, payments are not refunded for part of a period. A refunded payment ends the subscription it paid for, and the account goes back to the free plan.

Availability and changes

We work to keep Job Puffin running, but it is provided as it is and as available: it may be interrupted for maintenance or by problems beyond our control, and LinkedIn may change its pages in ways that stop the extension reading them until we update it. We may change, add or remove features. If we stop providing the service altogether, we will give you notice and refund any period you have paid for and not had.

Ending your account

You can stop using Job Puffin at any time. To have your account and its data deleted, write to [email protected]; cancel any subscription first, or we will cancel it for you.

Liability

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit. If you are a consumer, nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.

We are not liable for losses that were not foreseeable, for decisions you make on the strength of a rating or a draft, or for a job you did or did not get. If you use Job Puffin for a business, our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, and we are not liable for loss of profit, business or opportunity.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When a change matters, we will tell you before it takes effect and ask you to accept the new terms in the app; if you do not accept them, you can stop using Job Puffin and we will refund any period you have paid for and not had. The date at the top says when they last changed.

The law that applies

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts can hear any dispute about them. If you are a consumer living elsewhere, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country you live in, and you can bring a claim in its courts.
