What Careerflow is
Careerflow calls itself a career copilot. Its Chrome extension saves jobs from LinkedIn and other sites to a tracker, fills in application forms, and checks your resume's keywords against the posting you are on. Around that sit an AI resume builder, cover letters, a LinkedIn profile optimiser, a networking tracker, a search for recruiters and hiring managers, and on Premium Plus, mock interviews.
What Job Puffin does that Careerflow doesn't
Careerflow's fit check works on the job in front of you. Job Puffin works on the list: the Chrome extension sends every posting in a LinkedIn search in one click, and each comes back scored out of 100 on seven criteria, with a sentence on each and a word on whether to apply. The inbox puts them in order, so the reading goes on the jobs that deserve it.
Your musts are checked separately from the score. A posting that contradicts one in so many words, an office five days a week when you need remote, is flagged with the quote and sorted below the rest, rather than scored as a middling fit. The jobs you pursue go into a pipeline with notes, and Job Puffin drafts a first message to the people named on the posting for you to send.
What it costs
Job Puffin Plus is $15 a month, or $12 a month billed quarterly, for 300 assessments a month; Pro, with unlimited assessments, is $24. Careerflow Premium is $23.99 a month or $54.99 a quarter, and Premium Plus, which adds mock interviews, is $44.99 a month.
Careerflow's yearly Premium plan works out at $14.41 a month, but it is $172.99 paid up front, for a search that may well be over in three months. Job Puffin is month to month or quarter to quarter, and both have a free plan; Job Puffin's has every feature, with 50 assessments and no card.
When Careerflow still makes sense
- Your LinkedIn profile needs work as much as your applications do.
- You want one tool for the resume, the forms and the tracking.
- You want interview practice in the same place.
Which to choose
If you want the most tools in one place, Careerflow has more of them, and the two can be used together. If what slows you down is working through LinkedIn results to find the few worth applying for, Job Puffin is built for exactly that, costs less, and shows you on your own search before you pay: the first fifty jobs are free, with no card.
Questions
- Is Job Puffin a Careerflow alternative?
- For choosing which jobs to go after, yes. Careerflow has tools for more of the search (your resume, your LinkedIn profile, autofill, mock interviews on its top plan); Job Puffin does one part of it: ranking every posting in a LinkedIn search against your CV.
- Is Job Puffin cheaper than Careerflow?
- A little, at the time of writing. Careerflow Premium is $23.99 a month, less by the quarter or the year, and Premium Plus $44.99; Job Puffin's paid plans start at $15 a month, or $12 a month by the quarter. Both have a free plan.
- Does Careerflow rank LinkedIn jobs?
- It checks one posting at a time: a keyword match against your resume and a Job Fit Analyzer for a job you are looking at. Job Puffin takes every posting in a LinkedIn search and puts them in order.
